Manchester united paid around £30m for Dimitar Berbatov. They spent this money as they believed in Berbatov they had found the striker to carry on the traditions of successful Manchester United strikers such as Van Nistlerooy, Cole and Law.

Anybody watching Berbatov will be amazed at the skill levels of this player. I doubt there are many players on the world who have his footballing talent. His holdup play, his ability to control the ball with his first touch and his dribbling skills are a wonder to watch. However, Berbatov was bought as a striker and yet this is the flaw in his game...he does not score enough goals. For £30m Manchester United were buying a prolific goal scorer but to-date Berbatov has not fully delivered.
