The Popularity of Manchester United FC


Manchester is the third largest city in England and is home to one of its biggest clubs. Manchester United is an established giant of English football with a rich history covering more than a hundred years. Bobby Charlton survived the Munich disaster and went on to become an ambassador for the club and Denis Law was one of the few players to play for both Manchester clubs.

Under the guidance of long serving manager Alex Ferguson the club had one of its most successful seasons in 1999 by winning the treble. This was unprecedented and involved winning the Premiership, the FA Cup and the Champions League. The latter involved a night of high drama with the club coming back from a goal down to defeat Bayern Munich 2-1 and be crowned kings of Europe.

Manchester United FC continues to be a popular club at home and abroad. The club continues to be successful by winning a number of trophies. The ultimate aim will be to once again taste success in Europe by winning the Champions League. This is the ultimate test for one of the biggest football clubs in Europe and the world.
